Years ago I have written a song called “Crosstalk” in order to raise some soundxchange and communication. Today with Web 2.0 we have been able to set up a forum in virtual space and this particular song, indeed, became reality.
The theme of the first edition is the decontextualisation of my music and I really thank everyone for their enthusiasm and contribution. That means a lot to me.
We are hoping you’ll swing by to watch and listen, finding the exhibits – like we do – exciting, interesting, deep, lovely, funny, emotional, professional, entertaining and at some places extremely wicked. Your feedback, of course, would be appreciated and for any kind of crosstalk you’re welcome to use the forum. Thanks a lot.

ELECTRIC MOOSE | THE YOUNG URBAN PROFESSIONAL
Stefan Hayman, Magnus Eriksson
STOCK BROKERS MIX
The remix is made by Stefan Hayman and Magnus Eriksson.
We choose "The Young Urban Professional" because it is such a brilliant song. It gave us the opportunity to do an electronic remix that differs a bit from the released version. We added some additional music and lyrics. When we made the remix we called our band "Electric Moose!"
This is comprised of various elements from Karl's work + original samples. I chose to make this very percussive using many layers of sounds to form the rhythms.
Being a big fan of Karl’s previous & current work I jumped at the chance to offer Karl a remix of one of his great songs & '15 minutes of fame' came to mind instantly. The song has something to point out about the perhaps sometimes vacuous obsession of 'fame' & the notion of this which is often portrayed in the media. Using edits of the track I pieced together something I hope is trancy & slightly ambient.
Once upon a time, when MIDI wasn't invented, I taught machines to talk German. Every now and then one of these machines even performed robotic SPRECHGESANG.
This exhibition made me reboot vintage voices and let Male1.1, Hal, Sam, Mike, 230, Martin, Silke, Paul, Betty, Harry, Frank and Ursula say: "Karl, thank you for giving your perfect beat to our SPRECHGESANG!"

FBI MIX
(FBI means 'Floating Bubbles of Information')
It was made in the following way:
1. Extract sections from various tracks on the 'Esperanto' album.
2. Load tracks into Ableton Live 6, manipulate and experiment until the correct mix reveals itself.
3. Export mix as AIFF.
4. Launch 'Gleetchlab 2.3' and load more extracts from 'Esperanto'.
5. Export the improvised mix from Gleetchlab as AIFF.
6. Simple mix down of the two above AIFF files in Logic 8 to produce final
track.
I'm using Karl's composition as a blueprint for a song on writing emails.
Worldwide conversation / Chating with a friend / You will see the message / One click response again / Crosstalk / Let it all hang out / Crosstalk / And we will work it out / Come and join the session / Turn your head set loud / Feel the new progression / And we can work it out / Worldwide sound and vision / ev'rything's allowed / Make a clear decision / We have to work it out

When I heard about this exhibition, I immediately had the idea to participate. I decided to do a remix of "15 Minutes Of Fame" on the computer. I was so excited about it, I got to work as soon as I got to my computer.
The reason I chose to remix "15 Minutes Of Fame" was because of my passion for electronic dance music (house, trance, and other types of dance music in that league) and how I pictured the song as a dance remix. A remix of "15 Minutes Of Fame," I thought, would be good for the clubs.
My influences include mostly dance music artists who make and remix songs that are usually around 7-10 minutes in length. That's about as long as how I wanted my remix, in or around the 7-10 minute range. I also wanted my remix to be more suitable for dance mixes so DJs will be able to use this remix in live mixes, mix compilation CDs, etc. I'm glad with how my remix turned out overall.
Although this remix was not submitted by Jens Zimmermann for this exhibition, we decided to make it audible because no-one has heard it before. Maybe he's reading this? If so, please let us know were you are, Jens!

HOLDEN CAULFIELD | ANOTHER REALITY
Holden Caulfield
This track is fascinating because of the agogical feel. It is floating and it leads itself to a slowmotion effect on the visuals. I’m into the mashup concept and I came across this well-known scene of a cult movie which seems to fit the pace of the track.

I wanted to use an old VHS-camera, because I like the look; i.e. the raw grain and the colours. Nowadays its quite hard to find one, but then, buy coincidence, I found one in my mothers basement. And I think the result is perfect!
I made this video with help from my friends: Anders Wieslander, Susanne Järnmark, Lindy Larsson, Martin Steinberg and Carl Hjelte.

THE MOBILE HOMES | YOU MAKE THE SUN SHINE
Hans Erkendal
With this video we wanted to pay tribute to Andrée's polar expedition 1897, but with a strange twist. One week in the Sahara Desert, 53 degrees above zero, in winter clothes. That was amazing! It's the same place where they made the StarWars movie.
The video was produced by Håkan Schüler and the song was written and produced by Karl for us some time ago. What you say?
Using his signature technique of assembling thousands of still pictures to what he calls Timesscapes, visual media artist J. Scriba contributes this mesmerizing vista of Munich's traditional Oktoberfest. Cut to Karl's "Sunshine" reprise it literally makes your head spin.

Soundrecordings (birds): Karl Bartos-The Long Way
In 2001 German Industrial Metal band Testify released the album “Triviality Beyond Acceptance” which included the song “Karl Found Out: The Definition.” This 2:08-minutes-sound-collage contains some sentences spoken by Karl Bartos who was familiar with the band’s work due to his comradeship with Testify’s producer Mathias Black. During the recording session of “t.b.a.” some interesting discussions between Karl Bartos and band-members took place, in the course of which Karl created his outstanding definitions about Testify’s musical identity. Being himself a true herald of Electronic Pop Music, Karl (not really surprisingly) revealed a subtle point of view concerning rude Industrial Metal noise. The Testify musicians were amused, sampled Karls voice and placed his statements into their aural construction. In the end his sentences even brought forth the album title itself: “Triviality Beyond Acceptance.”
