(...) For his new album, Off The Record, he (Karl Bartos) delves into his archive of Kraftwerkera home recordings to fashion nostalgic electro. Drawing on memory is a key element in his career, and, in turn, the development of electronic music. When he first heard A Hard Day’s Night by The Beatles, aged 12, in 1964, he thought he'd been struck by lightning. "I was drawn deeply to the music of the '60s, particularly The Beatles, and eventually became a musician," Bartos says.
